Saw combined maths lecture classME1A78's classmate working there.
Braatherr called in the early morning hours next day and met him at Plaza Sing, again. Lunched at the foodcourt before walking to Far East Plaza and decided to catch a moive at Shaw Lido; The Nanny Diaries.
The story of the journey of Annie Braddock, a young woman from a working-class neighborhood in New Jersey, struggling to understand her place in the world. Fresh out of college, she gets tremendous pressure from her nurse mother to find a respectable position in the business world although Annie would prefer to trade in her blackberry for an anthropologist's field diary. Through a serendipitous meeting, Annie ends up in the elite and ritualistic culture of Manhattan's Upper East Side--as remote from Annie's suburban New Jersey upbringing as life in an Amazon tribal village. Choosing to duck out of real life, Annie accepts the position as a nanny for a wealthy family, referred to as simply "the X's." She quickly learns that life is not very rosy on the other side of the tax bracket, as she must cater to the every whim of Mrs. X and her precocious son Grayer, while attempting to avoid the formidable Mr. X. Life becomes even more complicated when Annie falls for a gorgeous Park Avenue Hottie, and she's forced to explore her identity as never before.
Thereafter, went Far East Plaza and saw ChengFeng, Figo, Zander and Guanbin. Left around 5pm+ for dinner at AMK Hub with QunZheng.
The Nanny Diaries movie was good, and I thought that the several plot lines merged together well into the overall theme. With a degree in economics from Montclair University, 21-year-old New Jersey native Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) is ready to take on the world of high finance, not because she wants to, but because she feels an obligation to her hardworking single mother, Judy (Donna Murphy). Annie's real love is the fascinating field of anthropology, and she tends to see the world from the viewpoint of a cultural observer with the imaginatively visualisation in an opening sequence set among the dioramas of mothers from other cultures at the New York City's Museum of Natural History.
Annie's plans of becoming part of a large financial institution are derailed when she chokes on a simple question during an interview at Goldman Sachs: "Who is Annie Braddock?" Unable to say exactly who she is or what she really wants out of life, Annie winds up in Central Park contemplating her future as a bag lady when she rescued a young boy from an accident; she meets his immaculately dressed and perfectly coiffed mother, Mrs. X (Laura Linney), then came and thank her. Upon hearing Annie’s name, Mrs. X hears "Nanny," and concludes that Annie is a nanny, assuming that Nanny is both a job description and a given name. Mrs. X offers her a job Annie has never even considered: a full-time, live-in nanny. Her charge is the spoiled but basically sweet 5-year-old preschooler Grayer (Nicholas Reese Art), the son of the X’s couple. Then, Nanny's love interest, the Harvard Hottie (Chris Evans) came into the picture.
Mrs. X, a vainly prattling porcelain-doll narcissist married to a adulterous ass Mr. X (Paul Giamatti), an coarse piece of work - He's a blustery mergers hotshot, with piggy eyes that peer out from arty metal spectacles. Mrs.X spends her time doing nothing all day but shop, lunch, tend to her wall of designer shoes, and attending meetings of like-minded hands-off mommies(“other social X-rays”) who also gripe about their nannies. They're mommies who don't want to be mommies or, at least, don't want to spend more than five minutes at it, apart from fretting over which private school their tot genius is going to get into, they treat their kids as designer accessories.
