Last weekend was awesome cause I had some home cooked bbq hotplate and steamboat with The Boy, Maggie love, Phelan P and Kailin at Phelan's place. We spent about $130 odd on food at Fairprice! But it was all worthwhile cause it was our dinner for 2 days! Heh heh
Had a week to study and burn midnight oil for our papers on Saturday and coming Tuesday (yesterday), and I took a day off on Friday. Had lunch with Andrea at FEP after mugging for abit and before the nails appointment, Zhiqun dropped by too! And it was my "last lunch" before Ramadan starts on Saturday, 21st July.
Afterwhich, walked around and went back to hit the books first before meeting the Boy, Khai and Lalia for some dinner at JB!
Finally, in like 2 blinks of eye, my first day of Ramadan started out with some final revision before heading out for some volunteering work with the girls, Chanel and Mich at SMU, together with Marcus and the Boy. Thereafter, went down to school for my papers, and Boyfriend came to school and pick me up for break fast dinner at Coffeeclub YAY!
Had Black Pepper Duck pasta while he had Honey Mustard chicken sandwich, with drinks and a huge Muddy Mud pie which is super goooood!
2nd day of Ramadan, went for the usual afternoon class and it was time to head off to the yearly Ramadan bazaar to get many awesome food for break fast :D
Anyway, I decided to post up in prior to the question "Why must you fast this month too?:"
Quite a number of my friends were asking me this. Even though it's been almost just 2 months since the boy and me got together, I somehow feel the need (or rather feel the calling) for me to do it together with him.
I want to fast together with the boy simply because I want to inculcate this culture of Faith together with him, nothing more.
While I was on the internet the other day, couple of days before Ramadan, I decided to Google on this and chanced upon couple of websites on Ramadan, the festival itself. That Ramadan is not just about Fasting which is to break fast after sunset, but to become closer to God, to boost up one's mind, by focusing on the things of the soul, leaving all demands of the body behind. So some might ask, how is this able to help us become closer to God?
Fasting do help every one of us to experience how is it like to have a empty stomach. which in return to share the sufferings of the less fortunate. This leads to one to appreciate God's gift of bounties He gave to all human beings, which us human beings usually take them for granted.
And that besides Fasting, Ramadan is also consider as a form of "spiritual training for the Muslims", a time for moral enlightenment :) Meaning to be more wary of our behavior, what we see, what we hear and what we say. This is to bring inner peace which in turn, bring out proper social behavior in us, to the world.
So yep, that's the little homework I did on my part to gain knowledge in regards to this Faith. And speaking of Knowledge, it reminds me of Teacher Bani Ali from Sunday class said "Knowledge, is required before acceptance or rejection, the choice is yours." This sentence in particular shook the sense out of me because I realised that there are people out there who accept or reject even before knowledge is gained.
Why is that so?
Enough said, who am I to comment on that, yes? Because human beings, us, will make mistakes and tend to overlook some issues.. Just hope that someday sometime someone will enlighten them :)
X,
P.S: A huge jump in the number of readers today as I didn't expect it. Partially because I only told a handful of people about this post, asking them about feedback on how I can improve on my post.
But anyway thank you the rest of the anonymous :D
Do let me know how you feel about this post aights! I do wonder what you guys think of Ramadan Fasting itself :)
And that calls for a comment box to be added to my blog heh. In the meantime, do make full use of my tag box properly while I try to get the comment box up here. Emails are welcomed too! (Y)
